Cruise was born in Atlanta, Georgia, United States and raised in Cary, North Carolina.[1] She is of Cherokee, Scottish and Welsh descent.[1]

Carter Cruise debuted in the adult industry in 2013.[1]
On January 15, 2015 Cruise winning XBIZ Award for Best New Starlet. She said: “I was up against some incredible performers, many of who are good friends. I would have been just as excited to see them win! When they called my name I was in utter shock. I don’t think it really hit me until later, because in the moment it was so surreal.” Cruise also won XBIZ Awards for Best Actress in a Feature Movie for her performance in Jacky St James’ movie "Second Chances" (New Sensations), Best Actress in an All-Girl Release for her performance in "Lesbian Vampire Academy" (Hustler Video).[2]
