Stoya (born June 15, 1986 in Wilmington, North Carolina, USA) is an American porn actress.
Life
Stoya was born in Wilmington, North Carolina. Her mother is Scottish and her father is a Serbian.
When Stoya was a child, she wanted to become a dancer. At the age of three, Stoya started to attend dance lessons.
Stoya was home-schooled and before the age of sixteen, she got her high-school diploma.
Stoya had access to a lot of electronics, i.e. gaming equipment, because her father worked in IT. That developed her love for technology. Stoya says: "I was three when I was using DOS. My mom taught me how to read, and my dad taught me how to navigate DOS".
Stoya moved to Delaware at a later age. There she spent a semester at the Delaware College of Art & Design but because of Stoya's problem with authority, she eventually dropped out.
Stoya got relocated to Philadelphia and attended a summer program at UArts. In Philadelphia Stoya she worked as a secretary, flier distributor, and a go-go dancer. She also appeared in several music videos, but for bands that, according to her, "no one will ever hear of."
In May 2009, Stoya says she would be moving to Los Angeles in the fall of that year.
Stoya started to pose for a friend which led to modeling and working for alt-erotic websites. One website asked if she was willing to do a softcore scene for a DVD they were releasing.
Stoya says she discovered pornography because of an interest in BDSM and through fetish newsgroups on the internet. She claims that few adult films interested her, and she prefers those with artistic and fetish themes.
Stoya appeared in two DVD productions for Razordolls and made a non-sex, cameo appearance in two Vivid Alt titles. She then has been asked by Digital Playground to perform in a hardcore, lesbo scene with Sophia Santi. The scene never took place. August 2007, Stoya met several Digital Playground representatives and was asked if she would do a boy/girl scene in a hardcore. Stoya agreed, after careful consideration.
October 2007, Stoya signed an exclusive, three-year contract with Digital Playground. The first scene she shot was for the movie Stoya Video Nasty and was promoted on the DVD box as the first film featuring Stoya in boy/girl action. Stoya's first movie released by Digital Playground actually was Jack's POV 9. Stoya says that to explore her sexuality on camera was a fun adventure.
In 2009, Stoya appeared in her first mainstream crossover as Kamikazi Shegun 5000 in the award winning 48 Hour Film Project "The Kingpin of Pain".
Stoya loves art. One of her hobbies is creating clothes which she wears in her scenes and on erotic conventions.
She likes reading. Her favorite genres (among others) are fantasy and sci fi. Her favorite authors include William Gibson and Anne McCaffrey, but Stoya says, she is tired of answering questions about her favorites.

June 2009, she was said to be dating Marilyn Manson. They later broke up because of his touring schedule.
