Early life

Holwick was born in Venice Beach, California.[1] At 6 years old, she moved to Hawaii and was raised there.[1] Her father, painter Wayne Holwick, died when she was 11 years old.[1][4] At age 13, she worked as a tour guide for Japanese teenagers.[2] Throughout high school, she worked in a record store called Requests.[1][2] She pursued theatre at Reed College in Portland, Oregon and waited tables in Chicago, Illinois right after graduation.[1] She has also worked in her college's mail-room, a costume shop, a porn store, and as a contact juggler.[2]

Career

Holwick joined Ford Models and her first two bookings where as the face of MAC Cosmetics and CK Jeans.[1] She released her first photography book, Sleep Machines, through Paradigm Publishing.[4] Her photography work, which is all film, has a 60s and 70s west coast aesthetic in terms of content and color.[1] Her photography often contains nudity.[5][6] She directed the music videos for the songs "Oh Suzanne" by Low Cut Connie, "Home" by The Natvral, "Most of My N%$#@" by LoftBlue, and "Cops And Robbers" by Razorlight.[3][7][8][9] She also launched the clothing line Beg Borrow Steal at Urban Outfitters.[2] In October 2014, she founded the New York chapter of GRLCVLT.[10][11]

Personal life

Holwick has a son.[2] She is an intersectional feminist.[12]
