Get Rubber! was a Brazzers campaign encouraging the practice of safe sex.[1]

History

The purpose of Get Rubber! was to inform viewers that porn scenes, despite lacking condom use, are otherwise regulated through STD testing and that recreating them in their personal life should be done responsibly.[2] The campaign began with the unveiling of a billboard featuring Nikki Benz, Rachel Starr, and Rachel Roxxx in New York City's 7th Avenue between 48th and 49th Streets on October 13, 2010.[1]

Website

The Get Rubber! website contained facts about AIDS/HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.[1] The website also included interviews with porn stars, which were about getting tested, having safe sex, their involvement in the campaign, and stigmas attached to their job.[3][4] The website, along with Brazzers DVD pre-rolls and various social media sites, was among the places where the campaigns public service announcements appeared.[2]

Public service announcements

Get Rubber! released its first public service announcement in October 2010.[3] Its second public service announcement, which featured Jessica Jaymes, Julia Ann, and Jenna Haze, was released in November 2010.[2] The campaigns third public service announcement was released in March 2011 and featured Bree Olson, Nikki Sexx, Jynx Maze, Amia Miley, Alanah Rae, and Kirsten Price.[4] In August 2012, Get Rubber! released a public service announcement starring James Deen.[5] In April 2013, the campaign released a public service announcement featuring Alexis Ford, Kristen Price, and Mia Lelani dancing in a fictional nightclub that requires updated health tests to get in.[6]

Funds

Get Rubber! supported UNAIDS, amfAR, AVERT, The Women’s Collective, and WORLD with financial donations.[1] On June 11, 2011, Phoenix Marie, Nikki Delano, Kortney Kane, and Missy Martinez participated in the first Brazzers charity car wash, which was at Santa Palm Car Wash in West Hollywood for the Get Rubber! campaign.[7]
