Savanna Samson was nominated for Best Actress - Film at the 2005 AVN Awards for her role in ''Bare Stage'' and she co-hosted the show with Thea Vidale.<ref name=AVNInsider>[https://web.archive.org/web/20051111044607/http://www.avninsider.com/stories/lead021805.shtml And the Winner Isn't ...]</ref> Sean Michaels, who was a presenter at the AVN Awards that year, mistakenly announced that Samson was the winner before being corrected by co-presenter Jessica Jaymes.<ref name=AVNInsider/> Samson had already started making her way on stage wearing only a strategically placed towel as previously planned.<ref name=AVNInsider/> When Jenna Jameson was announced as the actual winner for her role in ''The Masseuse'' and received considerably more applause, Samson whipped off her towel and marched offstage fully nude.<ref name=AVNInsider/> Jameson made sure to help defuse the situation and sooth any hurt feelings by praising Samson, her fellow Vivid girl.<ref name=AVNInsider/> Michaels explained that the error occurred because he read the nominees beforehand and Samson's name was the last one listed, so it was still on his mind as he read who the winner was and saw that it was a name ending in "son".<ref name=AVNInsider/> Paul Fishbein initially thought that the incident was the "biggest blunder" in the history of the awards show, but then started to consider it as a "great moment" after Michaels apologized.<ref name=AVNInsider/>
