- July 22, 2017: the American BDSM adult model and pornographic film actress January Seraph died by suicide at the age of 34.[1]
- September 27, 2017: the founder of men's magazine Playboy Hugh Marston Hefner died of natural causes at the age of 91.[2]
- November 10, 2017: the Canadian pornographic actress Shyla Stylez died of undisclosed causes at the age of 35.[3]
- December 6, 2017: the Canadian pornographic actress August Ames died by suicide by hanging at the age of 23.[4][5]
- December 13, 2017: the American pornographic actress Yurizan Beltran died of a drug overdose at the age of 31.[6][7]
Legal
- June 5, 2017: the mixed martial artist War Machine was sentenced to life in prison for assaulting pornographic actress Christy Mack and web designer Corey Thomas.[8]
- June 20, 2017: the pornographic social media xHamster started providing Indonesian LGBT users with resources about legal aid and refugee resettlement programs. [9]

- December 20, 2017: the British politician Damian Green resigns after he made misleading statements about pornographic contents found on computers in his office.[10]
- December 27, 2017: the Irish news website Buzz.ie reveals that 306 pornographic websites were accessed 684 times from the Irish Parliament in Winter 2017.[11]
- Late 2017: The French concierge company SARL Atyla filed a lawsuit against the heirs of the defunct Saudi Arabia's foreign minister Saud Al Faisal for refusing to pay 90,000 Euros as the bill for the pornographic films SARL Atyla had produced for the minister.[12]

- January, 17, 2017: The pornographic production company Kinkdotcom announced it would stop filming in the San Francisco National Guard Armory from March 2017.[14]
- June 20, 2017: the scientific publication "Consuming Ecstasy: Representations of Male and Female Orgasm in Mainstream Pornography" based on pornographic website Pornhub statistics is published on The Journal of Sex Research.[15]
- June 29, 2017: The pornographic social media and social networking service website xHamster launched its branded sex doll named xHamsterina.[16]
- September 29, 2017: the American trade association Free Speech Coalition announced the first survey to the sex industry[17]
- December 19, 2017: the American pornographic film production company Evil Angel launched the pornographic website Blackmailed.com.[18]
- December 18, 2017: the American judge Alex Kosinki resigns following accusations of sexual misconducts.[19]
