I'm sorry that Pornopedia was not available recently. I've upgraded the server's operating system OpenBSD and I also upgraded the Wiki software to MediaWiki version 1.37.0.
Unfortunately, I ran into a lot of issues. Somehow I managed to fuck up the databases. I've tried everything I could to get them working again, but it just didn't work. I couldn't even make a database backup so I restored a backup from Friday, November 19, 2021, before the update. So far it seems to work quite well, but I'm sorry, that means that all edits made between the backup and Thursday, November 25, 2021, are not available on Pornopedia anymore.
I invite all authors to also store their articles locally on their computer, not just on Pornopedia, in case anything happens to the databases. Usually, daily backups of the databases are made but apparently, something could always happen.
I would like to apologize again to you for all the problems I caused. I am very sorry!

Some minor things already didn't work before I upgraded the server's operating system, but after the upgrade it was much worse, for example mail was on the fritz. If you've sent a mail to an @pornopedia.com address this week, it probably got lost. Please send it again. I somehow managed to fuck up lots of things.

After many hours of trial and error, I decided to delete all data from the server and asked for a new installation. During the backup I screwed up again and downloaded an old file. Now hundreds of images are missing; I have to upload them one by one manually but I really deserve that! :) Luckily, I got the latest database backup! :)

This week, I worked like crazy on the server, up to 16 hours a day. I just wanted to fix it so badly. At times, I must have looked like Jack Nicholson in The Shining ;)

I learned lots of stuff and now (Saturday, September 10, 2016), most of the things work again. I installed MediaWiki 1.27.1 and I'll upload the missing images during the next days. If you notice something strange, please let me know. Thanks for your patience and please excuse the inconvenience.

By default, the real name of a user is shown in the profile when provided for example during registration. That might not been wanted by everyone so we deleted all real names as a precaution. You can re-enter your real name via Special:Preferences if you want to. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused and we hope you have fun with the new profiles.

Performance tuning
Yesterday (Tuesday, June 5, 2012), performance tuning has been done in order to make the Pornopedia website faster.

Among other things, a file cache has been activated, which generates a static HTML file for every article and shows that file to the anonymous user. For the logged in user, Memcached has been installed and activated. Memcached caches the website in the RAM.

Unfortunately, the hit counter doesn't work well with file caching, that's why the counter has been completely deactivated today. It's nice to know how many times an article has been viewed, but for many Pornopedia users it's nicer to have a faster website.
