Gonzo pornography

Gonzo pornography (or simply gonzo) is a style of pornographic film that attempts at placing the viewer directly into the scene. Jamie Gillis has sometimes been considered the founder of gonzo, especially through his popular series On the Prowl.

Gonzo aims at tearing down the walls between the sexual action depicted in the scene and its viewer, by putting the camera directly into the action and often having it maneuvered by one or more of the participants. It is influenced by amateur pornography and makes free use of point-of-view shots. It also tends to avoid full-body and/or wide shots in favor of close-ups, and prefers wider angle lenses (reality pornography). It can also include tight shots of genitalia.

The term has been coined after gonzo journalism, a style of journalism in which the reporter is directly involved in, and part of, the story.
