Life

Wadim writes about his life (February 2010): "At the age of sixteen, me and my parents moved from Kazakhstan to Germany. It was a nice time for me, I did sports, worked and felt invincible, as if the world belongs me alone.

I think that this arrogance later brought me to the drugs. You always think: This won't happen to me. That's how the years of my life passed by. While consuming drugs, I somehow managed to go to work and stay sort of fit through sports. But after over ten years of collapse, I found myself without anything. I was divorced, I had no work and I was mentally finished.

When I decided to search for help, I had my first contact with painting at an art therapy in a hospital. Since then I painted nonstop, already for over three years. Painting has changed my life. Since that time, I never touched drugs again, art is my addiction now. Erotic paintings are my favorite. It is like meditation to me. I touched on a lot of other topics too, but I always returned to erotic painting.

I often had discussions with conservative people who were telling me I should do "serious" art. But I think that nude always belonged to the preferred motif of painting. And actually a person with a healthy sexuality won't see a taboo in an erotic painting.

When I learned how to paint, I used different nude pictures as a template for my paintings. Later I did photographs of models myself to realize my own ideas. For that, I had to deal with photography, which is my second hobby now.

At the moment I specialized mostly on nude and portrait painting. I tried different directions to, but erotic painting stayed my favorite theme. Many paintings of that theme I just paint for myself for slowdown, as balance for my sport (Thai Boxing), where I have to be aggressive."
